Each April brings a lot of buzz and excitement to Myrtle Beach during the annual Hootie and the Blowfish Monday After the Masters Pro-Am. Following Masters Sunday, this fundraising event brings in tons of celebrities and famous golfers who come together for some fun – and of course a little competition – for a good cause.
Monday After the Masters started out as a way for a small group of friends who enjoy the game of golf to raise money for charity, and has since become one of the top Celebrity Pro-Ams in the nation. Each year the event brings in a variety of players – from world-renowned golfers to celebrities – that participate in a golf tournament at The Dye Club at Barefoot Landing. It’s a fun-filled weekend that kicks off with a welcome party on Saturday, followed by practice rounds on Sunday leading up to the big tournament on Monday. And each year the event is ends with an epic concert by Hootie & the Blowfish at the House of Blues!
The money that is raised during this golf tournament goes towards the Hootie and the Blowfish Foundation and the South Carolina Junior Golf Association. The Hootie and the Blowfish Foundation is a non-profit private organization that was created by the band so they could support charities that are important to them. The SC Junior Golf Association not only teaches youth about good sportsmanship, honor and character of the golf game, but aims to prepare them for how to face challenges they may have in the future.
Each year Ultimate California Pizza proudly does our part of by proudly bringing our ‘Best of the Beach Pizza’. We know the tournament wouldn’t be possible without a team effort so not only do we serve pizza to the players, but the staff as well. Over the three day golf tournament, we provide over hundreds of pizzas that feed hungry players, volunteers, workers and VIPs.
And who knew some of the celebrities in attendance are as big of fans of our pizza as we are of them! We’ve been given rave reviews from Willie Robertson, Wayne Gretzky, Meatloaf, Larry the Cable Guy, and many more. The legendary Arnold Palmer once said “This pizza is a hole in one” and heavyweight boxing champ Gerry Cooney challenged us one year when he said “This pizza better be good or I’m gonna knock you out, chump”. Thank goodness he liked what he tasted – saying it was the best pizza he’s ever had – and no punches were thrown!
Ultimate California Pizza strongly believes in supporting the community and raising money for local charities. We’ve been proud to have been a part of the MAM celebrity pro-am golf tournament since practically the beginning – when we attended the 2nd annual tournament meeting. We are also honored to be a locally sourced product for the event and provide that extra level of community involvement with a quality product that locals know and love.
We can’t wait for this year’s annual Monday After the Masters tournament in Myrtle Beach and are ready to start firing up our pizza ovens!
